Little League Activities Suspended
by posted 03/12/2020

Coal Creek Little League families:

While our communities, schools, and governments institute plans to protect the public from the spread of COVID-19 (coronavirus), the District Administrators of Colorado Little League districts have informed us that Colorado Little Leagues must suspend all Little League activities and not resume them "until no earlier than May 11th" and must cease all operations effective immediately.

As a league, we are working together to make an action plan so families know what to expect when we are able to resume operations. These decisions are being discussed to encourage the most positive and safe experience we can provide when we presume baseball will resume on April 7th.

There are many moving parts that we are considering, including rescheduling practices, coach and umpire trainings, amongst other operational necessities.

I have been informed that DICK's Sporting Goods will honor any coupons for our scheduled Shop Day which was to be held this Saturday, March 14. This league Shop Day WILL be rescheduled when we are allowed to resume operations. The coupon available on our website will be valid this Saturday, March 14 but we will not be having any league events on that day.

The following activities are cancelled and will be rescheduled:

DICK's Sporting Goods Shop Day 3/14/20

Coaching Clinic 3/14/20

Umpire Clinic 3/15/20

Practices that were to be scheduled for March 16 - April 3

Opening Day April 4

As soon as more information is known from a league and Little League standpoint, we will be sure to keep you informed. As we discuss options for resuming operations after April 6, we will implement procedures to continue to make every effort to keep your children safe. These topics need to be discussed in detail to formulate the best action plan moving forward. Please continue to be patient with us as we work through this unprecedented circumstance.

I know you are all waiting on the information of which team your player is on. That will be coming in the next few days. We want to stay as on-track with the season as we can until we are allowed to resume activities.

If you have any questions or concerns in the meantime, please email me at president@ccllbaseball.org or our District Administrator for Colorado Little League District 2, Dave Penney, at ColoradoDist2@aol.com. Please resist the urge to ask questions of other league officials including coaches or board members you know on a personal basis. Dave Penney and I are happy to address your ideas and concerns as the leaders of CCLL and Colorado District 2 with official information and responses as known at the time.

We are happy to have your player participating in Little League baseball this year, and we are all anxiously waiting to get outside and play ball. In the meantime, stay well.

Desiree Ortiz

Coal Creek Little League, President
